We're delighted to announce that we will be offering two netball tournaments as part of next year's calendar:
Brighton College will once again be hosting the secondary tournament, this year on 9th - 11th November 2017 for the U19 age range as well as U13 and U15.
Kings' School Dubai will be hosting the U11 netball tournament at the Kings' School Al Barsha campus on 17th - 18th November 2017.
Registration for both netball tournaments will open on Sunday 07 May - check back here then for more information!
Brighton College Abu Dhabi hosted BSME's inaugural U13 and U15 Netball Tournament at Zayed Sports City on 18-19 November 2016. Interest for this event exceeded our expectations, and the available spaces were filled quickly by schools in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. As Headmaster Alun Yorath stated in his introduction: "Netball is undoubtedly the strongest sport at Brighton College Abu Dhabi: Not the strongest GIRLS sport but simply 'the strongest sport'". Would Brighton College pull through and secure medals in both the U13 and U15 tournament? Time would tell...
There were a few nerves as the visiting teams warmed up and prepared for their opening matches, but any unsettled feelings were soon forgotten once the first whistle blew on court. A full day of fixtures commenced with teams watching and supporting each other - whilst also keeping an eye on their competition, of course!
As the pool fixtures drew to a close, many teams became anxious to find out which play-off they would be in. This was particulary tight in the U13 category, with the top 3 teams finishing on equal points! However, all good things must come to an end and following the play off matches the gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to:
G: The English School Kuwait
S: Brighton College
B: British School Al Khubairat
G: Doha College
S: British International School Jeddah
B: Brighton College
The results of the tournament have been compiled by Brighton College and can be found at the bottom of this page. Thank you to Mrs Davey-Coulson and the team at Brighton College who organised a terrific tournament and Zayed Sports City for their incredible catering and facilities.
